SCOTT RIVER

Water Diversions: The Scott River is home to Coho Salmon, Steelhead Trout, and a remnant Fall Chinook Salmon run. Historic dredge and placer mining, and now logging, cattle grazing and agricultural diversions are threatening fish populations. In dry years, Fall Chinook are often unable to reach spawning grounds in the upper reaches of the watershed. Kidder, Shackleford, and Moffett Creeks often run dry due to water diversions for alfalfa fields. KFA would like to see groundwater use regulated, and in-stream diversions reduced.
